Courses
Self-defense is a complex tapestry of interdependent subjects and skills, each one affecting the other’s progression and outcome. The core of Achromatic’s training philosophy is centered around the seven essential areas necessary for a self-defense program to be truly comprehensive. Those seven elements are as follows:
- Legal and Ethical: the legal limits, as well as the personal and emotional limits that will have to be maneuvered when confronting violence
- Violence Dynamics: the different types of violence, their motivations, and how they are utilized
- Avoidance: the mechanics of absence, escape and evasion, and de-escalation
- Counter-Ambush: surviving the first split seconds of an assault in order to shift momentum in a violent ambush
- The Freeze: understanding freezing as a natural process the brain and body undergo, and how to break out of it
- The Fight: the actual physical techniques and mindset of surviving violence once it ensues
- The Aftermath: the medical, legal, and moral consequences of surviving violence
